Crafting a Cinematic Animated Portfolio for Burna Boy

An artist as dynamic as the 'African Giant' requires a digital presence that matches his energy. I designed and engineered a conceptual portfolio for Burna Boy that pushes the absolute limits of DOM manipulation and scroll-jacking, without sacrificing performance.

/02 Mastering Scroll-Driven Timelines

Instead of standard vertical scrolling, the site utilizes GSAP ScrollTrigger to pin sections and scrub through complex timeline animations. As the user scrolls, massive typography masks reveal vibrant concert photography, while background colors transition smoothly to reflect the mood of his different eras.

/04 Performance First, Animation Second

Heavy animations notoriously cause jank on mobile devices. To combat this, I bypassed CSS transitions entirely, utilizing GSAP's hardware-accelerated `transform` and `opacity` properties. By forcing the browser to render animations on the GPU rather than the CPU, the site maintains a flawless 60fps even on mid-tier mobile phones.
