Reimagining E-commerce Checkout Flows in Nigeria

Reimagining E-commerce Checkout Flows in Nigeria
E-commerce Next.js API Integration UX

Building an e-commerce platform for the Nigerian market requires understanding local consumer behavior. For Bamzy Gadgets, a premium tech hub in Lagos, standard credit-card-first checkouts often lead to cart abandonment due to trust issues with high-ticket items. We needed a tailored solution.

/02 The WhatsApp Checkout Architecture

Instead of forcing users through a rigid payment gateway, I engineered a custom cart system that aggregates the user's selected items, calculates totals, and formats a highly detailed, readable payload. Upon clicking 'Checkout', this payload is instantly forwarded to the WhatsApp API, opening a direct chat with the sales team.

By mapping the digital checkout process to the cultural preference for conversational commerce, conversion rates skyrocketed by over 40%.

/05 Premium Apple-Inspired Aesthetic

To justify the high price point of the gadgets, the storefront was built with an Apple-inspired minimalist aesthetic. Massive high-resolution imagery, subtle micro-interactions on hover, and a spatial map integration for their physical store location combine to build massive brand authority and buyer trust the second the page loads.
